The dates and official slogan for TIFFCOM2013, organized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and UNIJAPAN, have been confirmed.

	The momentous tenth edition of TIFFCOM will be held over three days:from Tuesday to Thursday, October 22-24, 2013. Following last year,the market will take place at the hotel GRAND PACIFIC LE DAIBA in the Odaiba area of Tokyo.

	TIFFCOM2012 saw the participation of 229 exhibiting organizations from 25 different countries and regions. 983 buyers from 34 different countries and regions also took part, and lead to record numbers for both exhibitors and buyers. Business talks also climbed 29%, and we saw TIFFCOM develop into a multi-content market with a strong international presence.

	2013 marks the second year of TIFFCOM’s move from Roppongi to the GRAND PACIFIC LE DAIBA in Odaiba. The slogan for this year is “TOKYO Renezvous”.
We hope that hosting the market in the city resort of Odaiba, close to central Tokyo, will lead to many new opportunities and relationships.
We are working hard to make sure we can provide you with wonderful encounters in this beautiful location.

2012’s Project Market saw its seminars and pitching sessions packed full with participants. We seek to further strengthen the link between TIFFCOM and TIFF in 2013 by establishing opportunities to information and build networks, and continuing to promote international co-productions.
We hope to create a place where filmmakers from both within and outside of Japan gather to conduct business talks and exchange information.
Further details will be announced in May.

	TIFFCOM2012, the multi-content market held in affiliation with the Tokyo International Film Festival and organized jointly by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and UNIJAPAN, was held from Tuesday, October 23, to Thursday, October 25. ---------------------------------------------------------------------

	TIFFCOM2012, which was held from Tuesday, October 23, 2012 to Thursday,
October 25, has ended. The market was held at the Hotel Grand Pacific
LE DAIBA. During the three days of TIFFCOM, we saw a great number of
exhibitors, buyers, visitors, and members of the press. We would like
to thank each and every one of you who attended TIFFCOM.

	For the first time this year, three other affiliated markets were held
in the same venue: Tokyo International Music Market, Tokyo International
Anime Festival (2012 fall edition), and Creative Market Tokyo, which
features character-driven content. By experiencing Japanese creations
in all their varied forms, we hope you were able to feel the power of
Japanese content.

	From the bottom of our hearts, the TIFFCOM staff thanks you for
visiting this year. We hope you will visit next year as well!

	Members of the Tokyo International Film Festival student support staff
also took part to discuss how young people today view cinema, and held
a lively debate with the leading producers of the country.

	<Study Tour for Students>
For the first time ever, a study tour was organized at TIFFCOM.
20 students each from Keio University and the Vantan Design Institute
took part in the tour, which aimed to develop future filmmakers.
The young participants were very eager to be exposed to the real
world of international content business.

	<Project Market>
At TIFFCOM2012 Project Market, numerous meetings were held with
international producers to discuss film projects.
If you have an idea for a film project, please consider participating
in next year's Project Market.

	<Screening & Teach-in>
Film director Noboru Iguchi held a teach-in after the screening of his
film "Dead Sushi", which had its market premiere at TIFFCOM.
In front of guests from Japan, the US, and Hong Kong, among others,
he spoke eloquently about his project.

	Taiwan, and Malaysia - were invited to take part in a special luncheon.

	Today marks the end of TIFFCOM, but tomorrow will see a special TIFFCOM
event: a cruise around Tokyo Bay, held on the ship Shin Tokyo Maru.
Why not take this rare occasion to ride on the Shin Tokyo Maru, and enjoy
■ 　　　The Tokyo International Film Festival Kicks Off!　　　 ■
------------------------------------------------------------------

	On October 20, the 25th Tokyo International Film Festival got off
to a memorable start.

	On the street alongside Roppongi Hills, the main venue for the film
festival, a 250-meter green carpet was laid out - the longest carpet
the festival has ever had.

	Mr.Roger Corman as president of the international competition jury,
Ms.Atsuko Maeda as TIFF Ambassador, and actress Erica Linz of "Cirque
du Soleil: Worlds Away" and Cirque du soleil artists were on hand to
celebrate this momentous moment, celebrating a quarter-century for
the film festival.

	The film festival will screen over 100 films in nine days. The films
will be shown under the following categories: The Competition category,
where the Tokyo Sakura Grand Prix will be awarded from the crop of
new talent and seasoned directors, Special Screenings, where upcoming
releases will be unveiled ahead of their scheduled Japan premiere;
World Cinema, which screens films that have received recognition in
other international film festivals; Winds of Asia-Middle East,
the category that boasts the largest number of films and viewers;
Japanese Eyes, which shows Japanese expression in all its variety;
and Natural TIFF, for which films with an underlying theme of
coexistence between humans and nature are selected.

	This year's head of jury will be Roger Corman, a living legend in
the world of independent film. We wait with bated breath to see which
films the producer of "Von Richthofen and Brown" (1971), "Piranha" (1978),
and "Monster (Humanoids from the Deep)" will select for the prizes.

	■　　　　　　　　　Will be Lit Up in Green!　　　　　　　　　　■
------------------------------------------------------------------

	2012 marks the special year when TIFFCOM switched from its Roppongi
the nearby Tokyo Gate Bridge and Tokyo Big Sight will be lit up in
green, the official color for TIFFCOM and the Tokyo International
Film Festival!

	The new Tokyo Gate Bridge, which opened only this February, and
Tokyo Big Sight, Japan's largest convention center (located in
Ariake): two monuments that represent the Odaiba area will be
celebrating TIFFCOM along with us.

	From Saturday, October 20 to Sunday, October 28, the Tokyo Gate
Bridge will be lit a beautiful green from sundown to midnight.
Tokyo Big Sight will be illuminated in green from sundown to 10 pm.

	■　　　　　　　　　　A Panel Discussion on　　　　　　　　　　 ■
discussion to be held on October 23: "The Status of Japanese Films
The situations of the Latin American film industry and Japanese
Showing Japanese movies in film festivals and theaters in this
region requires effective approaches and strategies. This subject
has received little attention to date, so the discussion should
be very enlightening for those interested in showing Japanese
movies in Latin America.

	There are two main methods for the international development of
a film. One is to export the completed film overseas and have a
local distributor distribute the film; another is to utilize the
story or its cultural background and remake the film to suit the
overseas market.

	Tetsuya Fujimura will moderate the event, and film distributors
from the US and Russia, as well as a US producer, will consider
the reality and issues behind bringing a Japanese film overseas.
